Local teacher and trade unionist Steve Witherden has been selected as the Labour Party’s parliamentary candidate for our new constituency of Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.

Steve Witherden will take the fight to the Tories from Rhosllanerchrugog to Llanidloes and everywhere inbetween after being chosen as the Labour Party candidate by members.

As a teacher and frontline worker, seeing the impact of austerity on our local public services gave Steve the drive to stand up for our communities.

Steve commented: “I am honoured to have been chosen as the Labour Party’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Montgomeryshire and Glyndŵr.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in the selection, and see you on the campaign trail!”

“Mae’n anrhydedd i mi gael fy newis yn ddarpar ymgeisydd seneddol y Blaid Lafur ar gyfer Sir Drefaldwyn a Glyndŵr.

“Diolch i bawb a gymerodd ran yn y broses, edrychaf ymlaen at eich gweld pan fyddwn allan yn ymgyrchu!”

Jackie Owen, Clwyd South CLP Secretary, commented: “Steve is ceaseless in his fight for social justice – Montgomeryshire & Glyndŵr couldn’t hope for a better voice in the House of Commons.

“I have no hesitation in backing Steve Witherden – no constituency could ask for a better champion.”
